Slasher season 4: David Cronenberg stars in new season ordered by Shudder

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Like any good slasher movie villain, the television series Slasher just won't die. The show premiered on the now-defunct cable and satellite network Chiller back in 2016, then moved over to the Netflix streaming service for its second and third seasons. Now it has been announced that a fourth season, titled Slasher: Flesh & Blood, has been ordered by the Shudder streaming service.

Along with the announcement came the release of a first look image, which can be seen below.

Consisting of eight episodes, the new season of Slasher stars genre icon David Cronenberg and follows

a wealthy but dysfunctional family gathering for a reunion on a secluded island. Their old wounds and competitive rivalries flare up when the family realizes a masked killer is on the island, intent on cruelly picking them off one by one.

Cronenberg is joined in the cast by Paula Brancati, Jefferson Brown, Patrice Goodman, Sabrina Grdevich, Christopher Jacot, Rachael Crawford, Jeananne Goosen, Sydney Meyer, and Alex Ozerov.

Slasher: Flesh & Blood will first air on Shudder in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand sometime in 2021. It will then be shown in the UK, Ireland, Canada, where it will air on Hollywood Suite.

The show is being produced by Shaftesbury. Series creator Aaron Martin serves as executive producer alongside Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, David Ozer, Thomas P. Vitale, and showrunner Ian Carpenter. Slasher: Flesh & Blood is being directed by Adam MacDonald and is currently in production in Ontario, Canada.

Craig Engler, Shudder's general manager, said

Slasher is clever, bloody, scary and fun, and adding David Cronenberg to the mix will take this new installment of the series to the next level. We couldn't be more excited to work with Aaron Martin and the team over at Shaftesbury to bring Slasher: Flesh & Blood to Shudder members."

Christina Jennings, who is Shaftesbury's Chairman and CEO, had this to say:

We are so thrilled that Slasher will be brought back to life on Shudder. We know the fans of the show weren't ready to say goodbye, so we are eager to bring them the goriest, scariest chapter of this anthology yet."

I haven't watched the previous seasons of the show yet, but I've been meaning to get to them… and will get to them, one of these days!
