We reported several months ago that the Shudder streaming service had ordered a fourth season of the television anthology series Slasher (which started out on the now-defunct network Chiller, then moved to Netflix for the second and third seasons), and that genre icon David Cronenberg would starring in the new season. Now we know when Slasher season 4 – which is titled Slasher: Flesh & Blood – will be reaching Shudder.
The first two episodes of the season will premiere on Thursday, August 12th. The remaining six episodes will be released on a weekly basis. Slasher: Flesh & Blood will be available to watch for Shudder subscribers in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand.
This season follows
a wealthy, dysfunctional family that gathers for a reunion on a secluded island only to learn they’ll be pitted against one another in a cruel game of life and death, all while being stalked by a mysterious masked killer. Nothing is what it seems and no one is safe as the tension–and body count–ratchets up.
Cronenberg is joined in the cast by Paula Brancati, Jefferson Brown, Patrice Goodman, Sabrina Grdevich, Christopher Jacot, Rachael Crawford, Jeananne Goosen, Sydney Meyer, and Alex Ozerov.
Shudder's Craig Engler described Slasher: Flesh & Blood as being like "Knives Out done by John Carpenter", which is quite an appealing mix. Engler said it
takes the SLASHER franchise to a new level with a gripping and scary story about family secrets, intrigue, murder and legacy. We’re incredibly lucky to have David Cronenberg, an icon of the genre, giving a standout performance as the fearsome, intimidating patriarch of the Galloway family who sets the tone for the shocking twists, crazy mysteries, and total mayhem that’s to come. Shudder members won’t want to miss a single episode of this incredible event series."
Slasher fans in the UK, Ireland, and Canada will have the chance to watch Flesh & Blood on Hollywood Suite.
The show is produced by Shaftesbury. Series creator Aaron Martin serves as executive producer alongside Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, David Ozer, Thomas P. Vitale, and showrunner Ian Carpenter. Slasher: Flesh & Blood was directed by Adam MacDonald and filmed in Ontario, Canada.
