Three years ago, Sony brought us the R.L. Stine inspired film GOOSEBUMPS, a well received and surprisingly enjoyable family friendly genre adventure. Now they’re delving into the world of Stine’s literary creations again with GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN, which will be reaching theatres this October.
Directed by Ari Sandel from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, HAUNTED HALLOWEEN continues the approach of not adapting any specific Stine books, but instead telling a story in which his horrific characters escape from the pages of his books, led by Slappy the evil ventriloquist dummy.
This time around, the cast that will be dealing with Stine characters running loose in their town includes Madison Iseman, Ben O’Brien, Caleel Harris, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ken Jeong, Chris Parnell, and IT‘s Jeremy Ray Taylor.
The trailer for GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN can be seen below. To me, this looks like it’s just a lesser repeat of the first movie, but it still has a chance of being fun to watch.
Slappy and his pals return to theatres on October 12th.
