Warner Bros. still has a lot of work to do with their big screen version of Neil Gaiman‘s SANDMAN comics, but they have found one very important piece needed for their planned movie: a screenwriter. Deadline has learned Jack Thorne will write the script for SANDMAN, based on a pitch by David S. Goyer.
Thorne is probably best known for his script work in television (SKINS, THE FADES, THIS IS ENGLAND), but he also provided material for HOW I LIVE NOW, and wrote the screenplays for THE SCOUTING BOOK FOR BOYS and the upcoming Nick Hornby adaptation A LONG WAY DOWN. When the SANDMAN movie was first announced, some of you weren’t pleased with David S. Goyer being attached to the project, but do you feel a little better now since he won’t be writing the script?
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is producing SANDMAN, however it’s still not known if the actor will appear in it or not. I have my fingers crossed he will play the Lord of Dreams, but I won’t be too upset if he doesn’t, as long as they find another solid actor for the part.
If Gordon-Levitt decides not to star in SANDMAN, Warner Bros. will still need to find someone to play Dream, but they also need to hire a director. Who do you think should direct SANDMAN?
