It’s not every day when you get to post something about someone you know pretty well, it’s almost surreal in a way. Anyways, SISTERS, the remake of the Brian DePalma film, directed by Douglas Buck and written by Buck and John Freitas (my screenwriting professor) has been hitting the festival circuit internationally, and may have a small release in NYC in a couple of weeks. If you’re unable to make it to the festivals or the release, then you are in luck.
Image Entertainment will be releasing the DVD of the reimagining on March 11th, 2008. It will be in anamorphic widescreen with 5.1 Dolby Digital, with a commentary by Douglas Buck and also deleted scenes. Other features, cover art, etc will be released soon.
The film is a pair of Siamese twins are separated and one is forced to live a sheltered existence under the watchful eye of a controlling psychiatrist. The film stars Stephen Rea, Lou Doillon and Chloe Sevigny.
I have yet to see the film but from what I know, Buck and Freitas are very passionate filmmakers and supportive of the film. I know I’ll be picking up my copy on March 11, as should you!
