Sissy: Aisha Dee gets revenge in Australian social media satire horror film

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Fresh off of collaborating on the thrilling sci-fi adventure 2067 (watch it HERE), Jason Taylor of Freedom Films and Lisa Shaunessy of Arcadia are teaming up again to produce the horror film / social media satire Sissy. John De Margheriti of DEMS Entertainment is producing the film with them, and Alexandra Burke, James Boyce, William Day Frank, Mathieu Van de Velde, Vicki De Margheriti, and Clement Dunn serve as executive producers.

Currently filming in Canberra, Australia, Sissy is being directed by Hannah Barlow and Kane Senes from a screenplay they wrote together. Aisha Dee of The Bold Type and Channel Zero is taking on the title role.

The story centers on

Cecilia (aka Sissy), teen BFF of Emma. The two were going to grow old together and never let anything come between them, until Alex, her bully and tormentor, ruined all of that. Twelve years later, Cecilia is a successful social media influencer living the dream – until she runs into Emma for the first time in over a decade. Invited away on Emma’s bachelorette weekend, Sissy finds herself stuck in a remote cabin with her high school bully… and a taste for revenge.

Dee's co-stars include Emily De Margheriti, Yerin Ha, Lucy Barrett, and Daniel Monks. Co-writer/co-director Barlow has an acting role in the film as well.

Sissy sounds like it could be interesting. We'll keep you updated on the project as it continues to move forward.
