Sinister Six line-up is not yet finalized, shooting could begin January 2015

Despite teaser images from the end credits of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, it seems that Drew Goddard‘s line-up for THE SINISTER SIX is far from finalized. Mostly due to the fact that he is still writing the screenplay for the villain-centric spin-off, The Wrap reports that the closing credits tease is meant more to show what the future of the franchise may hold after THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 rather than who will appear in THE SINISTER SIX.

But, those sources also teased the possibility that THE SINISTER SIX could begin filming in January 2015. Up until now, we had assumed that the movie wouldn’t be coming until 2018, after THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 and possibly the VENOM movie, but now there is a chance we could see it as early as 2016. This could potentially lead to a year where we would get both THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 and THE SINISTER SIX in theaters. There is no word on whether Andrew Garfield will appear in the movie, but I would bet he may show up for at least a cameo.

Based on the credits sequence for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, it seems likely that we will see Rhino, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, and Mysterio along with one additional villain, but don’t consider that final just yet.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 opens this Friday, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 on June 10, 2016, and a fourth film, possibly VENOM, on May 4, 2018.
