Silent Night, Deadly Night 4 (1990) Revisited – Horror Movie Review

New to the JoBlo Horror Originals YouTube channel today is an episode of The Black Sheep (released under the Revisited banner) in which we’re looking back at Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation (watch it HERE), a film that seems to be the biggest black sheep in a franchise that you could really say is full of black sheep. While the original Silent Night, Deadly Night – which was highly controversial at the time of its release – is widely considered to be a slasher classic, the sequels aren’t so well regarded. And in the case of Silent Night, Deadly Night 4, this one catches heat for ditching the “killer Santa” concept entirely and going in a very different direction, telling a story about witches. Learn all about it by checking out the video embedded above!

Directed by Brian Yuzna from a screenplay by Woody Keith (based on a story Yuzna crafted with Arthur H. Gorson, S.J. Smith, and Richard N. Gladstein), Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation has the following synopsis:

The initiation is a bizarre, horrific ritual, which occurs every time this welcoming committee from hell needs a new member. The evil responsibility belongs to Fima and her demented assistant Ricky. They approach the task with a vengeance. Eternal life, it seems, requires no small sacrifice. Together, they find a young reporter named Kim. She’s smart, beautiful, inquisitive, everything but willing to join their unholy club… and no wonder. Membership lasts an eternity. And you can imagine the dues.

The film stars Neith Hunter, Maud Adams, Tommy Hinkley, Clint Howard, Jeanne Bates, Reggie Bannister, and Allyce Beasley.

This episode of The Black Sheep was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Lance Vlcek, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
