Sigourney Weaver has been attached to more fantastic film franchises than you can count (well, three or four at least), and she’s looking to continue on with roles in a few of them coming up.
Speaking to ComingSoon, Weaver reveals that she will be back in some capacity in AVATAR 2 despite (spoilers) her death in that film.
“Don’t worry, I will be back. Jim [Cameron] says no one ever dies in science fiction . He’s told me the stories for the next two movies and I have to say that they’re absolutely wonderful and there’s a real treat in store. Now we just have to make them.”
She also appears to be on board with GHOSTBUSTERS 3 as she explains to CinemaBlend, and has a bit of info about that film as well:
“I have yet to read the script. I’ve had a couple of calls and I know they’re rewriting and all I said was that I hope my son, Oscar, has grown up to be a Ghostbuster and Ivan Reitman said yes. Beyond that, I have no idea. I hope it comes together, but we already did two wonderful films and, if we have to let this one go, that’s fine.
Well I guess Peter Venkman is dead. Dana without… I guess his spectre always was with her, whether she liked it or not.”
It’s been speculated that Murray’s Venkman would be a ghost in the film, but from everything we’ve heard from him, it’s far from a sure thing that he’s going to agree to appear. He reportedly had doubts after seeing the GHOSTBUSTERS 3 writers script the painfully unfunny YEAR ONE.
