Shudder’s Creepshow revival orders season 3 scripts, despite no renewal

The original CREEPSHOW films in the '80s were a collaboration between Stephen King and George A. Romero, and were horror anthology films greatly influenced by old E.C. Comics. Last year, AMC's horror streaming service Shudder revived the series to great success. It featured adaptations of stories by Stephen King, Joe Hill, Joe R. Lansdale, and Josh Malerman, and starred David Arquette, Adrienne Barbeau, Tobin Bell, Big Boi, Jeffrey Combs, Kid Cudi, and Giancarlo Esposito.

Meanwhile, season 2 had been underway filming, when concerns over the pandemic shuddered production (as it did for many other productions as well). However, despite this, Shudder has ordered a full set of season 3 scripts – despite not officially announcing a season 3. Here's what showrunner Gerg Nicotero said about the situation:

CREEPSHOW continues to be near and dear to my heart and having the opportunity to continue the legacy by developing season 3 gives me the chance to work with some of the best storytellers and artists in the business. The stories we have in the pipeline for season 2 are even more outrageous, more fun and capture the spirit of what George Romero and Stephen King started in the ‘80s

And here's what Shudder general manager Craig Engler said in a statement:

Although season 2 is on pause while we wait until it’s safe to go into production, we wanted to use the time to start work on season 3 scripts to let Greg Nicotero and his amazing team get as far ahead as possible

So while there is still no official announcement about season 3 of CREEPSHOW, it does look like the streaming service has confidence in it, and that at this point seems like an inevitability.

But what do you guys think? Fans of the revival? If so, what have been your favorite episodes so far? Either way, sound off below!
