Writer/director Jay Cheel's Shudder documentary series Cursed Films was a mixed bag for me. I liked three of the five episodes, the ones about the POLTERGEIST franchise and the tragic deaths on the set of THE CROW and TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE. I felt that the other two, dedicated to THE EXORCIST and THE OMEN, dropped the ball when they left the movies behind and drifted off to introduce viewers to real exorcists and black magic practitioners. The show is definitely worth checking out, though.

Cursed Films is a five-part documentary series which explores the myths and legends behind some of Hollywood’s notoriously “cursed” horror film productions. From plane accidents and bombings during the making of The Omen, to the rumored use of real human skeletons on the set of Poltergeist, these stories are legendary amongst film fans and filmmakers alike. But where does the truth lie? Cursed Films reveals the events that haunted these productions through interviews with experts, witnesses and the cast, directors and producers who lived through the real-life events. Were these films really cursed, as many believe, or just the victims of bad luck and bizarre circumstances?
The episodes feature interviews with the likes of Linda Blair, Kane Hodder, Michael Berryman, Ryan Turek, Phil Nobile Jr., Richard Donner, and Gary Sherman, among others.
Bonus features on the DVD and Blu-ray include Director's Audio Commentary for all five episodes.
