Donkey is hosting Shrek’s Swamp on Airbnb

Donkey is hosting Shrek’s Swamp on Airbnb, giving three friends the opportunity to spend two nights in a perfect replica of the ogre’s home.

If you’ve ever looked at Shrek’s Swamp and thought, “I want to go to there,” well, now you can. A surprise listing on Airbnb will open up Shrek’s Swamp for an exclusive two-night stay for up to three friends from October 27-29. Donkey is hosting his pal’s home on Airbnb, which is located in the hills of the Scottish Highlands.

Wow, it is so nice to meet you. I’m Donkey, and I’m making magic with Airbnb to roll out the welcome mat this October while I’m swamp-sitting for Shrek,” reads Donkey’s introduction. “I have to be honest – I love everything about the swamp: the boulder out front, the modest interiors, the seclusion (ideal for singing karaoke late into the night), you get the picture. I can’t wait for guests to experience this muddy slice of paradise for themselves.

Nestled deep within the forests of the Scottish Highlands and accented with the cozy comforts Shrek has accumulated over the years, the swamp offers a retreat like no other,” reads the description. “This mud-laden, moss-covered, murky-watered oasis is a perfectly snug spot to escape from village life and embrace the beauty of nature.” According to the listing, guests will be able to:

  • – Relax in the ambiance of “earwax candlelight”
  • – Kick your feet up with a parfait (everybody likes a parfait!)
  • – Swap stories around the fire until late in the night
  • – Enjoy a stack of freshly made waffles in the morning
  • – And of course, enjoy the ultimate privacy of Shrek’s trusted outhouse (you know the one)

There will be an on-site concierge (not sure if that’s very swamp-ish) who will show you and your friends around once you arrive and arrange your meals. The listing notes that toilet, sink, and shower facilities are located off-site but only 20 meters away. Airbnb will also make a one-time donation to HopScotch Children’s Charity, which “provides some of Scotland’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children with respite breaks through nurturing and dynamic holiday trips.” Booking for Shrek’s Swamp will open on Airbnb on October 13th at 6 p.m. BST.

It’s been well over a decade since the last Shrek movie, but it’s possible that we may see all those twisted fairytale creatures again as Shrek 5 was being discussed early this year.
