SHIT!! If you’ve got a cool collection of DVDs, movie posters, toys, comic books, figurines, an awesome home theater set-up that you just have to share with the rest of the world of movie nerds who reside on this very site, this column is for you! Just read the requirements below and drop us a line at [email protected] with pics, videos and commentary about your nifty stuff and your collection might be the next one up here.

REQUIREMENTS:

1) Please include any basic personal info on yourself, so others could know who the f*ck you are. Age, sex, geographical location, what you do in life, etc….

2) Take some pictures or videos of any cool shit you have in your pad, and send it along with your message to us. Make sure that every picture/video is explained and you don’t just send us a bunch of pics and say “Here’s my shit!”, cause that’s not what we’re looking for. We need some words attached to the pics, what they are, where you might’ve got it, shit like that.

3) Try and zone in on a couple of your FAVORITE AND UNIQUE ITEMS and point those out as well. If possible, let our readers know WHERE you might’ve bought them, etc…

Okay now that we have the dating service questions out of the way lets move on to my shit. I started collecting dvds in late 2001. I tend to geek out and buy the ultimate/super-deluxe/collector’s edition and at times have “double-dipped” on a few choice movies (clerks, swingers etc.) My total is about 787 dvds, which I keep in alphabetical order cause otherwise I wouldn’t be able to find a damn one. I also have a few figurines that I have received as gifts. I use to have some posters all over my walls but they took up too much space and got expensive to frame so I switched to the mini-posters/postcards that come with special edition dvds.

Here we have the first part of my dvd collection (A-Ha). The stand they are on is an IKEA garage rack I was gonna throw away but decided to converted to a dvd stand because most stands out there are just to small. Also here is what you would call the horror movie corner. The figures are a Todd McFarlane’s Leatherface and a NECA’s Freddy vs Jason. The Halloween 4&5 and House 1&2 are inserts from the dvd cases that have scene select on one-side and poster replicas on the other, printed on cardstock. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a tin that came with the 2-disc edition of the remake. The smaller one is 1 of 8 promo items that came inside. Finally we have a best buy exclusive cell of Saw 3.

Next is H-Ni in my collection. The Sin City mini-posters were a Circuit City exclusive. I wish they had released the rest of the posters in this size (I actually considered printing them out myself but I just couldn’t find clean enough shots to print.)

The Grindhouse images are the slipcovers for the regular release, since I have the steelbook versions I decided to frame these slipcovers. The four framed above the door are postcards that came in the Pearl Harbor 4-disc edition.

This here is Ni-S. Above that are four 5×7 posters of the Departed, which came with a Best Buy exclusive steelbook edition of The Departed. The final stand to the right has some S’s, all the T’s, and most of the U’s (the rest are staked in the closet for now. On the stand I have the Simpsons; little figurines (with Marge tipped over) that came in a Simpsons movie pack from Wal-Mart. It was either that or the shirt. Above that is Scarface.

Above my room’s TV is the “hero” section with a Superman/Clark Kent bust from Best Buy and Bluntman and Chronic, oh and Suzanne.

Here are Almost Famous and Kill Bill (small booklets) and Donnie Darko (paper insert). I normally don’t frame regular inserts, but I like these movies and they look cool. Also they don’t have the stupid dvd logo or other crap on them like most other inserts; which make them look like real posters.

So far I only have four steelbook cases in my collection, all Best Buy exclusives (out here anyway). I like these so much I shell out the extra five to seven bucks it cost to get these editions. I honestly think the studios should just release all the 2 disc versions in steelbook since they’re charging 25 bucks for them anyways. Remember when 2-disc editions were only 20 bucks. I guess it’s a good ploy to release bare bone and 2-disc versions to get dvds back over 20 bucks but at least give the loyal consumer something. Anyway, behind that is my iMac were I watch my movies when in my bedroom. Mainly because my bedroom TV sucks and I have Harmon/Kardon sound sticks with bass bottom connected to my computer, which pumps out a pretty nice sound.

Finally we have the living room with a 42” plasma screen, my standard dvd player, and a few gaming systems (I still need to get an Atari 2600.) When things pick up I plan on upgrading my TV, getting a blu-ray player and surround sound. If you’re wondering up there is a Genesis, Dreamcast, 3do, Super Nintendo, 64, Gamecube, and a PS2 (I also have anfc to play the old NES games).

There it is, my shit for now. Hopefully in a year or two I’ll be back with more shit to show and shit that kicks ass.
