Apple TV+ have released the first official trailer for Shining Girls, a new thriller series based upon the 2013 best-selling novel by Lauren Beukes. The time-twisty trailer features Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) as a journalist who discovers that a recent murder is linked to a horrific assault she experienced.

Elisabeth Moss plays Kirby Mazrachi, a Chicago newspaper archivist “whose journalistic ambitions were put on hold after enduring a traumatic assault. When Kirby learns that a recent murder mirrors her own case, she partners with seasoned-yet-troubled reporter Dan Velazquez (Wagner Moura) to uncover her attacker’s identity.” Kirby and Dan come to realize that all these previous cold cases are linked, with their own personal traumas and Kirby’s blurred reality allowing the murderer to remain one step ahead. In addition to Elisabeth Moss and Wagner Moura, Shining Girls also stars Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), Amy Brenneman (The Leftovers), and Jamie Bell (TURN: Washington’s Spies). Moss also serves as an executive producer on the series and directed several episodes as well alongside Michelle MacLaren and Daina Reid.

The official synopsis for Shining Girls:

Years after a brutal attack left her in a constantly shifting reality, Kirby Mazrachi learns that a recent murder is linked to her assault. She teams with veteran reporter Dan Velazquez to understand her ever-changing present—and confront her past.

The first three episodes of Shining Girls will debut on Apple TV+ on April 29, 2022, followed by a new episode every Friday. What did you think of the Shining Girls trailer? Will you be checking the series out when it premieres?
