Shia apologizes again, this time for Indy 4

I’m not sure what sparked the recent outburst of honesty from Shia LaBeouf but just two days after telling reporters he thought TRANSFORMERS 2 sucked, he shared some candid thoughts about INDIANA JONES 4.

That LaBeouf was at Cannes promoting a sequel when his last two films, both sequels, were highly disappointing, was not lost on the press at the film festival. So when asked about INDY 4, Shia said, “I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished.” LaBeouf didn’t much care for the finished product and he wasn’t the only one. “[Harrison and I] had major discussions. He wasn’t happy with it either….There was a reason it wasn’t universally accepted.”

That it wasn’t universally accepted is pretty much universally accepted so why come out and admit it now? LaBeouf says audiences are “pretty intelligent” and “if you don’t acknowledge it, then why do they trust you the next time you’re promoting a movie?”

You’ve got to admire the kid for coming out and saying that his last two films, from two of Hollywood’s biggest directors, sucked. That takes some balls. Even LaBeouf seems to understand the ramifications. “I’ll probably get a call. But [Steven Spielberg] needs to hear this. I love him. I love Steven…I think he’s a genius, and he’s given me my whole life….But when you drop the ball you drop the ball.”

Shia LaBeouf, you get a high five.
