Shelter in Place trailer: Roosevelt Hotel horror film gets September release

1091 Pictures is planning to give the horror film Shelter in Place a VOD and Digital release on September 14th, and today we’ve gotten our hands on the film’s trailer to help you decide whether or not this is something you’d like to check out next month. Give the trailer a look in the embed above. The fact that the movie is set in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, “the oldest continually operating hotel in Los Angeles” (it first opened in 1927), may be enough to draw in some viewers.

Written and directed by Chris Beyrooty and Connor Martin, Shelter in Place has the following synopsis:

A honeymooning couple gets stranded at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and learns that there is more to fear than just cabin fever.

That synopsis doesn’t give you much to go on, but after watching the trailer I’m left with some hope that Shelter in Place will turn out to be an interesting, creepy flick. I might have to give this one a chance in September.

The film stars Brendan Hines (The Tick, Lie to Me), Tatjana Marjanovic (Great White, Purgatory), Kevin Daniels (Atypical, Modern Family, The Big Leap), Ola Kaminska (The Madness Within), and Jey Reynolds (Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift music videos).

This is the feature directorial debut for both Beyrooty and Martin. Beyrooty has previously directed multiple shorts, as well as episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Kelly Clarkson Show. Martin’s only previous credit was as “Assistant to Lorne Michaels” on episodes of Saturday Night Live. Beyrooty has Saturday Night Live experience in his past as well; he was a production assistant and assistant editor on some episodes. Beyrooty also co-wrote Steven C. Miller’s upcoming A.I. horror film Margaux.
