Disney+ Day gave the streamer to tease the future of the MCU on the platform and that included first-look footage from She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and more! For now, you have to head to the Disney+ app to see the 15-minute sizzle reel but it’s worth a look as fans are eager to see what these shows have to offer. The studio also released an extended action sequence from Hawkeye, which is headed to Disney+ on November 24, 2021.
She-Hulk has Tatiana Maslany playing Jennifer Walters, a lawyer that inherits powers similar to The Hulk after she receives a blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo who is reprising his role on the Disney+ series. In the first look footage, we can see a glimpse of her green skin and variation of her signature costume so it appears it will be accurate to the comic book. The cast of She-Hulk also includes Jameela Jamil, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ginger Gonzaga, and Tim Roth, reprising his role as the Abomination from The Incredible Hulk.
In Moon Knight, Oscar Isaac plays Marc Spector, a character who has dissociative identity disorder and believes himself to be the human avatar of the Egyptian god Khonshu. In the teaser, his identity disorder is teased as he hears voices in his head and walks past a golden statue of Khonshu. Eventually, Isaac dons a white, caped costume, that appears accurate to the Moon Knight comics. The best shot of the clip has him jumping across buildings as he’s silhouetted by the glowing crescent moon. Moon Knight also stars Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy.
Newcomer Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel, a Muslim, Pakistani-American who idolizes Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). In the first-look footage, Kamala says, “It’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City who save the world” as it becomes clear she will be one of those girls to save the world when she is infused with some kind of cosmic energy that sets her up to Marvel’s latest heroine. The series also stars Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Aramis Knight, Rish Shah, Saagar Shaikh, and Matt Lintz.
We also got a look at Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury in Marvel’s Secret Invasion. The series will find Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn reprising their MCU characters Nick Fury and the Skrull Talos. The two first met in Captain Marvel and the series will showcase a faction of the shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Kyle Bradstreet, who worked on the critically acclaimed cyber-thriller series Mr. Robot, will be writing and executing producing the project. As for shooting locations, “The Hollywood Reporter” indicates that shooting began in the fall in the U.K. and Europe. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps but the cast also includes Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, and Killian Scott. Kingsley Ben-Adir is also on board and reports indicate that he’s likely playing the villain of the series.
The extended clip from Hawkeye shows Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) on the run in an old Chrysler from a pack of goons, as Kate tries to ward them off with her impressive archery skills. The sequence unfolds over a series of extended takes that make the tension and danger the duo are facing hit a fever pitch. The clip also features the first look at Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo, who is getting her own spin-off series on Disney+ soon. The series also stars Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Fra Fee, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and Florence Pugh.
