A little Marvel news to complete our day as Deadline has announced that Ginger Gonzaga has joined the cast of Marvel's She-Hulk series for Disney+. Gonzaga will be playing the best friend of Jennifer Walters, the titular She-Hulk played by Tatiana Maslany.
After hosting over 300 episodes of Hulu's The Morning After pop-culture web-series, Ginger Gonzaga went on to appear in episodes of Legit, Mixology, Anger Management, Key and Peele, Togetherness, BoJack Horseman, Chance, I'm Dying Up Here, Kidding, American Dad, Robot Chicken, Family Guy, and Space Force. Gonzaga should be right at home with She-Hulk, which Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed last month will be a half-hour legal comedy. Gonzaga commented on the news on Twitter, saying "I’m beyond excited to join #Shehulk! We will be directed by #KatCairo! @ChairmanGao is gifting us her hilarious writing & I get to run amok w/ the insanely talented #tatianamaslaney. Thanks @Marvel & @disneyplus 4 your support & having me in the fam! Get ready! It’s AWESOME!"
In addition to Tatiana Maslany and Ginger Gonzaga, She-Hulk will also find Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as The Hulk as well as Tim Roth returning as The Abomination, a character not seen since The Incredible Hulk all the way back in 2008. Kevin Feige has also teased that the story will be staying true to the She-Hulk comics from writer/artist John Byrne, which should give you a clue in regards to the tone of the series. In the comics, Jennifer Walters was a young woman who received an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin, who just so happens to be Bruce Banner. As a result of this transfusion of radioactive blood, Jennifer found that she could transform into a large, powerful green-skinned version of herself, but unlike her cousin, she's able to retain much of her intelligence and emotional control. She-Hulk will be directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia with Jessica Gao serving as the head writer of the series. Production on the series is expected to kick off this March for a 2022 debut on Disney+.
