Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been on Marvel's radar for quite time time, with the studio just waiting for the perfect moment to introduce the new hero. "Once we finished what we call now The Infinity Saga, we rolled up our sleeves and said, 'OK, what's next?' What are we going to kick off the next?" Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said last month. "The next sort of evolution of the MCU post- our first big saga, and that's why Shang-Chi was at the very top of that list." Marvel Studios have just released the brand-new trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and you can certainly tell why he's going to make a perfect addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, a skilled martial artist who was trained at a young age to be an assassin by his father Wenwu, only to depart to live a normal life in San Francisco. However, he must confront the past he thought he had left behind when he's drawn back into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. In addition to Simu Liu, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan. Destin Daniel Cretton directed the film and co-wrote the script with Andrew Lanham and David Callaham.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will hit theaters on September 3, 2021.
