The poster for the 1987 sci-fi action classic PREDATOR featured star Arnold Schwarzenegger being targeted by the title creature in a variation of its infrared view, along with the tagline "Soon the hunt will begin". The upcoming sequel THE PREDATOR has had some cool posters so far, like the lightning one, the skulls one, and the spine rip one, and its latest poster also earns a "cool" rating, because this one is an homage to the original film's poster.
This time the title character is being targeted in infrared vision, implying that one of its own kind has turned against it (and we know that's basically the case). The tagline: "The hunt has evolved".
Directed by Shane Black (who had an acting role in the first PREDATOR) from a screenplay he wrote with his THE MONSTER SQUAD collaborator Fred Dekker, THE PREDATOR has the following synopsis:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
The film stars Boyd Holbrook, Yvonne Strahovski, Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, Alfie Allen, Augusto Aguilera, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Edward James Olmos, and Jake Busey. Busey is playing the son of the character his father Gary played in PREDATOR 2.
THE PREDATOR is scheduled to be released on September 14th. If it's well-received, there's a chance it could kick off a new trilogy of PREDATOR films.
