Directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's LOVELACE, starring Amanda Seyfried as the titular character debuted its first trailer last week and today we have a much racier and compelling international one to sell the sex(ier) side of the film. It still dives into the turbulent relationship between Linda Lovelace and her boyfriend/manager Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard), but it's a more upbeat affair than the previous one. The film made it's debut at Sundance earlier this year (our review here) and has garnered a lot of attention for Seyfried's performance and an all-star cast that includes James Franco, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Robert Patrick, Chris Noth, Adam Brody, Chloe Sevigny, Hank Azaria, Wes Bentley, Eric Roberts, and Bobby Cannavale.
Take a look:
Here's the synopsis:
Story of Linda Lovelace, who is used and abused by the porn industry at the behest of her coercive husband, before taking control of her life.
In many ways this looks like BOOGIE NIGHTS with a female perspective. Swap out Dirk Diggler for Linda Lovelace and this looks to hit on a lot of familiar beats, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Seyfried has proven herself to be reputable actress and this looks like it could be another solid gig on her resume.
LOVELACE is set for release on August 9, 2013.
