Showrunner Ryan Murphy gives setting details for the next season of FX’s American Horror Story

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck’s American Horror Story series has quickly become can’t-miss entertainment, helping to usher in a new era of horror on TV. The anthology series has stuck to it’s concept since the first season ended, repurposing the prior season’s cast into different roles for the next season, while bringing in a few new faces, typically big name stars. The current season, American Horror Story: Coven, has been another stellar season for the series, with returning star Jessica Lange continuing to “kill it” and co-stars Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett bringing a tremendous level of awesome to the party. Now, creator Ryan Murphy has dropped some small hints as to what the setting of the next season will be, as well as a word on Lange’s character.

“It’s set in 1950. If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there’s some more clues in that year. It’s a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we’ve done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I’m very excited!”

The fourth season is said to be Lange’s last for the series, which has already netted her a Golden Globe award for her work. The ratings-pushing show has been a breath of fresh air for the horror genre on TV and made for some bloody good fun and even some genuine scares. By far one of the best shows on TV and one to keep looking forward to.

American Horror Story: Coven is currently on Wednesdays at 10 PM ET.
