Seth Rogen’s next film will find him trapped in pickle brine for 100 years

Move over, cryogenics! You've got nothing compared to the perfect preservation powers of brine, which preserves both pickles and humans equally well! Variety reports that Seth Rogen is setting up his next project with Sony Pictures which is based upon a New Yorker novella by Simon Rich.

The as-yet-untitled film will find Seth Rogen starring as Herschel Greenbaum, "a struggling laborer who immigrates to America in 1918 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is horrified to learn that his only surviving relative is his great grandson, Ben Greenbaum (also played by Rogen), a mild-mannered computer coder whom Herschel can’t even begin to understand." Two Seth Rogen's for the price of one? That's either very good news or very bad news, depending on your point of view. Cinematographer Brandon Trost, who has worked on many of Rogen's past projects, including THIS IS THE END, NEIGHBORS, THE INTERVIEW, THE DISASTER ARTIST, and more, is also in talks to make his feature directorial debut on the film with Simon Rich penning the screenplay. It's expected that production on the film will get underway in Pittsburgh in October.

Seth Rogen has a number a projects on the horizon, including FLARSKY on June 7, 2019, in which he'll star opposite Charlize Theron, and Jon Favreau's live-action adaptation of THE LION KING on July 19, 2019. Rogen will be lending his voice to Pumba in the film. The actor is also attached to play Walter Cronkite in David Gordon Green's NEWSFLASH, which takes place on November 22, 1963, the day President John F Kennedy was assassinated in Texas.
