They say that the two things that are certain in life are death and taxes and perhaps a third option should be Seth Rogen's love for weed. Rogen is a proud weed proponent and it has been practically a co-star in most of his films. Given his affection for the ganja, it should come as no surprise that the actor-writer-producer announced on Monday that his marijuana company, Houseplant, will now be available in California! Product on Houseplant will initially be available through a direct-to-consumer ordering platform on the brand’s website beginning Thursday, March 11, 2021.
Rogen took to his Twitter page to unveil the news and the company will also offer accessories like ashtrays, lighters, and ceramics. The latter has become a big hobby for Rogen during quarantine if you follow him at all on Twitter so I honestly feel like the company wouldn't be complete without its inclusion. Houseplant was co-founded by Rogen and his longtime creative partner Evan Goldberg, who has worked with him on marijuana-influenced films like Pineapple Express and Superbad. It first launched in 2019 in Canada under the global cannabis and hemp company Canopy Growth with three different strains to offer products like pre-rolled joints, dried flower cannabis, and soft gel.
Rogen now joins the ranks of other celebrities that have ventured into the cannabis business and expanded it like Snoop Dogg, Bella Thorne, Tommy Chong, Rick Ross, and Jay-Z. It's seriously a match made in celebrity branding heaven and should prove to be quite lucrative as it continues to grow. In more posts following the initial announcement, Rogen also gave us a look at vinyl compilations that he has created for each strain and a close-up of his "Pancake Ice Sativa", which Rogen says he smokes every day. By the way, if you want an indication of how successful this business could be in the U.S., several users on Twitter pointed out to Rogen that his website for Houseplant.com had already crashed due to heavy traffic. Weed connoisseurs were likely quick to jump online to check this stuff out and I wouldn't be surprised if the site continued to see increased traffic as more people discover that Rogen's company is going to become a presence in California.

I think the cool thing about this whole story is that there is a perceived stereotype of what stoners are typically like, which usually goes by the notion that most are lazy. Rogen proves to be a highly functioning stoner that has clearly built a career that couldn't be accomplished if he wasn't properly motivated. He's an actor, writer, and producer, and a weed CEO. I'd say Rogen has done quite well for himself.
