Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to develop Garth Ennis’ The Boys for Cinemax

It seems as though Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg aren't quite done playing in Garth Ennis' world; the pair have been shopping a series based upon Ennis' The Boys comic for a few months now and, per Deadline, the potential series has found a home at Cinemax. The Boys is set in a world where most of planet's superheroes have been corrupted by their celebrity status and thus often engage in reckless behavior which threatens the safety of the world. It's up to a CIA squad, known as The Boys, to keep watch over those superheroes and, if they step out of line, eliminate them.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will be developing The Boys along with Supernatural's Eric Kripke, who will be writing the series, with Rogen and Goldberg taking on directing duties for the pilot. Given that much of Garth Ennis' work contains its fair share of sex and violence, it's probably fitting that The Boys has ended up at Cinemax.

As you know, this isn't the first time that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have adapted a Garth Ennis property; the pair have been working on Preacher for some time and their hard work will hopefully pay off when the series debuts on AMC on May 22, 2016. Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.
