Set Visit Preview: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Faster!

On Tuesday, something very exciting happened. I spent some time over at CBS Studios in Studio City, California. And no, the excitement wasn’t just being on a film set and getting a peak at something that might prove to be good. It really had more to do with seeing Dwayne Johnson, packing some serious heat and blasting away at some bad guys. He wasn’t wearing wings, and there wasn’t a cute little kid that ended up giving him a hug and filling his heart with joy. This was Dwayne Johnson, pissed off and hell bent on revenge. And if I’m not mistaken, this is the movie that many of his fans have been waiting a long damn time for.

In FASTER, Mr. Johnson is ready to tear it up. At least it looks that way from what we saw. And with characters simply named “Driver”, “Killer” and “Cop”, it will hopefully get down, dirty and raw. The film, directed by George Tillman Jr. (SOUL FOOD, MEN OF HONOR, NOTORIOUS) looks to be a fast paced and non-3D action flick that will hearken back to the Seventies. The titles of movies that kept coming up during the interviews included BULLITT and VANISHING POINT. I’m already excited simply because of this fact. While this tale of a man imprisoned for too many years, and released with only one thing on his mind sounds familiar, everybody we spoke to seemed to be thrilled about the script by Joe and Tony Gayton. And while we were there, we spoke to Tillman, Johnson, newcomer Oliver Jackson-Cohen and more.

To hear more about the visit (including interviews), you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled until closer to the films November release. But we can offer you a preview of what is to come with this image from the film featuring Dwayne being led to his cell (presumably). I for one am a lover of revenge driven drama and I’m hoping that this co-production between CBS Films and Sony Pictures will be just the thing we need after THE TOOTH FAIRY. Come on, just because he put on a pair of wings doesn’t mean he couldn’t beat you to a bloody pulp.

Are you ready for Dwayne Johnson to return to badassdom?
