Serial killer flick Gone, starring Amanda Seyfried, gets rated by the MPAA

If you were getting all worked up over the prospect of Amanda Seyfried in a horror flick about a serial killer, you’re going to have your hopes dashed a bit today.

The MPAA has made it their business to give Seyfried’s latest film, GONE, a PG-13 for violence and terror, some sexual material, brief language and drug references. Some good stuff in there, but all that terror and sexual material isn’t going to be worth much if it’s PG-13. Too bad; Seyfried is perfect for the R rating. (Check out CHLOE for reference.)

GONE revolves around a young woman named Jill (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job.

But the police do not believe Jill, who knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, she sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.

Directed by Heitor Dhalia and co-starring Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Erin Carufel, Jennifer Carpenter, Sebastian Stan and Socratis Otto, GONE hits theaters on FEBRUARY 24th.
