2016 has been a great year for horror film festivals, both old and new. And now we have one more to add to the roster. The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival will christen its inaugural year this Fall with films like PET, TRASH FIRE, BEYOND THE GATES, and a special appearance by our very own Eric Walkuski!
The festival, which runs from October 14th to 16th in various North Brooklyn locations, each of the festival's three nights will be helmed by a haunting foreign film, Laos' DEAREST SISTER, Mexico's WE ARE THE FLESH, and the USA/Iceland co-production CHILD EATER. The show will also feature a Brooklyn local filmmaking showcase (including short films, PSYCHOTIC! A BROOKLYN SLASHER, and 1977's THE SENTINEL), and several live stage events.
Eric will be around the festival, because wild horses couldn't drag him away from something like this, but he's also in it, both as a member of the Shorts Jury and as a featured guest in the "Critical Drinking" live event, in which film critics compete in trivia challenges for the sake of your sobriety.
Other films that will screen at the festival include BROKEN, LET HER OUT, FURY OF THE DEMON, THE MASTER CLEANSE, THERAPY, WITHOUT NAME, and several short film blocks, one of which includes Jill Gevargizian's "the Stylist," which won both the Jury and Audience Award at the Etheria Film Festival.
