Secret Invasion: Samuel L. Jackson prepares to play Nick Fury in new BTS pics

Samuel L. Jackson has posted a batch of BTS pics as he prepares to play Nick Fury for Marvel's Secret Invasion series

Samuel L. Jackson is gearing up for his return to the MCU, and he’s bringing Nick Fury’s facial hair along for the ride. Jackson is set to reprise his iconic role in Secret Invasion on Disney+, and today he’s shared a few behind-the-scenes pics of his transformation back into his fan-favorite character, Nick Fury. The first photo in the bunch shows Fury’s variety of signature facial hairpieces. I don’t know why I find this photo to be so disturbing, but here we are. The next two images are a bit easier on the eyes, as they feature Jackson himself sporting an awesome t-shirt design. The art on the shirt depicts Fury’s hand as it fades from time and space during “The Blip.” As Fury’s hand cracks apart, you can see the signal beeper he used to summon Captain Marvel at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel Studios is keeping the details of Secret Invasion close to its chest at the moment, though we do know the names of several actors that are set to appear in the upcoming Disney+ event series. Joining Jackson for the MCU presentation so far are Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Ben Mendelsohn (Captain Marvel), Kingsley Ben-Adir (High Fidelity), Olivia Colman (The Favourite), Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore), and Killian Scott (Damnation).

According to the general description for Secret Invasion, the plot revolves around Fury and Talos trying to stop the Skrulls who have infiltrated the highest spheres of the Marvel Universe. The story is, of course, based on the Marvel Comics event series of the same name that ran from 2008 to 2009. The event featured an array of Marvel’s most popular characters and gave every reader a healthy dose of paranoia to boot.

Marvel’s Secret Invasion is slated for release in 2022 exclusively on Disney+. It will be fascinating to see the MCU’s version of this iconic story, seeing as many pieces will need to be moved to make it all come together. Marvel has experienced tremendous success when adapting classic stories to suit their cinematic universe. Let’s all hope they can do it again for Secret Invasion.
