Do Skrulls know how to play golf? I certainly hope so because Happy Gilmore actor Christopher McDonald is joining the cast of Marvel's Secret Invasion.
Like everything else about this anticipated release, the nature of McDonald's role is being kept under wraps. He joins previously announced stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Killian Scott for what promises to be a major Marvel event.
Marvel's Secret Invasion is expected to follow a group of shape-shifting aliens who have been infiltrating Earth for years. The story is, of course, based on the Marvel Comics event series of the same name that ran from 2008 to 2009. The event featured an array of Marvel's most popular characters and gave every reader a healthy dose of paranoia to boot. Remember, a Skrull can be anyone, or anywhere. Obviously, Marvel will be telling a version of the story that's tailored to fit their cinematic universe.
Directors are currently being lined up for the series while Kyle Bradstreet, who worked on the critically acclaimed cyber-thriller series Mr. Robot, will be writing and executing producing the project.
Famously known for playing the dastardly blowhard Shooter McGavin in 1996's Happy Gilmore, McDonald is a man of many acting credits. McDonald is recurring on the HBO Max comedy series Hacks opposite Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder. He's also got several films in post-production, including Shoja Azari and Shirin Neshat's Land of Dreams, the TV movie Blind Psychosis, and Evan Marlowe's animated horror film Abruptio.
More details for Marvel's Secret Invasion are bound to drop sooner rather than later, so be sure to stay close and watch your loved ones for any signs of alien activity.
