When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuted two years ago, it was designed to be a look at the non-superhero side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Led by the resurrected Phil Coulson, the series evolved into a superhero saga all it's own and even represented the origin story for the Inhuman side of the MCU. Now, season three is set to compete with The Avengers themselves.
Variety reports that Marvel will have a presence at San Diego Comic Con this year to promote Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and will even feature an opportunity for visitors to share photos of themselves for a chance to win limited edition Secret Warrior pins.
The Secret Warriors, in Marvel Comics, are an elite team headed by Nick Fury and featuring Daisy Johnson, Yo-Yo Rodriguez, Jerry Sledge, and Eden Fesi. Since season two revealed that Skye is Daisy Johnson, it appears the series will transform the Secret Warriors into a Phil Coulson led team. More details are set to be revealed at SDCC.
As the JoBlo critic for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I have enjoyed seeing this series evolve and become better as both seasons have progressed. While I think the showrunners are still trying to find the right balance for the series, I am looking forward to seeing them introduce another superhero team to the MCU. Soon, we will have The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Defenders, and Secret Warriors all on the screen at the same time. How cool is that?
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on September 29th.
