Netflix released all ten episodes of the Victor Fresco-created zombie comedy series Santa Clarita Diet through their streaming service last month, on February 3rd, and I'm a bit behind. Although I've intended to watch the series ever since it was revealed that it would star Drew Barrymore as a woman who becomes a zombie and hungers for human flesh, I've only watched the first two episodes so far. Both of those episodes were directed by ZOMBIELAND's Ruben Fleischer, and I found them to be a lot of gross, gory fun.
It's good to know that there will be more Santa Clarita Diet to look forward to after I finish watching the first season. Netflix has just announced that a second season will be happening, with production scheduled to begin this summer.
Santa Clarita Diet stars the aforementioned Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson, and Skylar Gisondo.
In Santa Clarita Diet, Joel (Olyphant) and Sheila (Barrymore) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenaged daughter Abby (Hewson), until Sheila goes through a dramatic change, sending their lives down a road of death and destruction… but in a good way.
The second season of Santa Clarita Diet is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2018. An announcement video for the new season can be seen below. And check out our Top Five WTF Moments from the first season HERE.
