I'm sure you all know this about me at this point, but I love a good found footage flick. I have nothing against the subgenre and some of the scariest movies I have ever seen have been found footage. So it makes a bit of sense then that I enjoyed Aneesh Chaganty's SEARCHING starring John Cho.
Well, I guess it was only a matter of time but today we have word that there is officially a sequel to the recent laptop POV flick in the works. The new film – which I assume will be called SEARCHING TOO or SEARCHING 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO – will have to find a new plot and cast for the sequel, but evidently, the original creative team will return. That's all we know at this time but stayed tuned for more info as we hear it!
The original movie starred John Cho (HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE) as
David Kim, a man who becomes desperate when his 16-year-old daughter, Margot, disappears and an immediate police investigation leads nowhere. He soon decides to search the one place that no one else has: Margot's laptop. Hoping to trace her digital footprints, David contacts her friends and looks at photos and videos for any possible clues to her whereabouts.
The film marks the feature debut of director/co-writer Aneesh Chaganty with Timur Bekmambetov (ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, WANTED) producing. Cho's co-stars include Debra Messing, Joseph Lee, and Michelle La. Buy the original movie on Blu-ray HERE.
