Sean Penn & Javier Bardem’s The Gunman gets a release date and new image

THE GUNMAN, the latest from TAKEN and FROM PARIS WITH LOVE director Pierre Morel, is based on the Jean-Patrick Manchette novel The Prone Gunman, and stars Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, Idris Elba and Ray Winstone. It's been announced Morel's new film will be in theaters on February 20, 2015, and another image featuring Sean Penn has also been released.

Synopsis:

In THE GUNMAN, Sean Penn stars as a former special forces soldier and military contractor suffering from PTSD. He tries to reconnect with his long time love, but first must go on the run from London to Barcelona and across Europe in order to clear his name.

While the premise for THE GUNMAN doesn't sound very original, it does have a great cast, and Pierre Morel is a decent action director. THE GUNMAN doesn't seem like it's going to be the type of flick that'll blow your mind or bring anything new to the genre, but it should still succeed as a solid action thriller.
