Eli Roth’s cannibalistic recent epic THE GREEN INFERNO is getting an all-new Blu-ray Collector’s Edition via Scream Factory this April. The Blu-ray will come with a slipcover that's guaranteed for three months after its original release date featuring newly-commissioned artwork – which is badass and Director-approved (see below) – from Devon Whitehead. This art will be front-facing and the reverse side will be the original theatrical poster design.
Extras are still in progress and will be announced later in March.
That said, we can confirm today that the release will feature an all-new in-depth lengthy interview with Roth and cast members. Also, any extras that were on the prior release of the film will be ported over. And if that wasn't cool enough, the release will feature a unique surprise with a never-before-released CD soundtrack of the score by composer Manuel Riveiro, which includes bonus tracks, making this edition, all said and done, a 2-disc set.
While I didn't love the movie by any means, I did dig GREEN INFERNO so I just might be picking up this new edition. I still don't own the movie on Blu-ray so what better time, eh? Sounds like a plan to me. How about you? Do you plan to pick up this new edition when it hits in April? Let us know below!
Here's the movie's synopsis:
New York college student Justine (Lorenza Izzo), a lawyer's daughter, meets a student activist named Alejandro (Ariel Levy) when he goes on a hunger strike on behalf of underpaid janitors. Smitten, Justine agrees to help Alejandro undertake his next project: to save the Amazon. She soon learns to regret her decision when their plane crashes in the Peruvian jungle and she and the rest of their group are taken captive by a tribe of hungry cannibals.
THE GREEN INFERNO is directed by Eli Roth from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Guillermo Amoedo. Roth also produced along Miguel Asensio, Nicolás López, Christopher Woodrow, Molly Conners, and Jason Blum. The film stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolás Martinez, Aaron Burns, Ignacia Allamand, Ramón Llao, Richard Burgi, and Sky Ferreira. It hits Blu-ray April 23rd.
