Courteney Cox had a little fun this Halloween by poking fun at herself and her notorious bangs from SCREAM 3. While the haircut hasn't aged too well, Cox proves to be a trooper by being in the joke.
Cox took to her Instagram and posted an image of herself looking terrified as Ghostface looks ready to chop away her bangs with a pair of scissors. The caption reads "Not the bangs!!!!!!", although I'm sure she would more than welcome the chance to really chop away those bad SCREAM 3 bangs. You can check out Cox's Instagram post below:
SCREAM 3 is known for many things. It was supposed to be the final entry of the franchise but that proved to be false with the release of SCREAM 4 in 2011 and the upcoming SCREAM 5 which has already begun shooting. The film is known for not being as good as its predecessors but another detail about the film that has had fans talking since the movie was released in 2000 was the now-infamous bangs sported by Courteney Cox, who plays Gail Weathers in the popular horror franchise. The bangs have gotten their fair share of criticism over the years and Cox's ex-husband David Arquette, who plays Dewey Riley in the SCREAM films, recently took credit for the poor hair decision.
Courteney Cox does sport a different hairstyle across the four SCREAM films that have been released and I'd say the red-streak look in SCREAM 2 and her style in SCREAM 4 were probably the best. The SCREAM 3 bangs were indeed a disaster and the hair practically looks dead on the ends and the bangs look like a mere afterthought. The fact that fans have debated them over the years shows just how bad of a look they actually were but Cox has weighed in on them in the past by saying "The fact that people say, 'forever on film,' that is really true and it's so bad. I had these bangs and they were cut too short. At that time in my life, I wasn't the kind of person who would say, 'You know what? These are too short. We need to get new bangs."
Courteney Cox is returning as Gail Weathers in SCREAM 5, alongside other franchise vets, Neve Campbell and David Arquette. From the look of the actress on set during recently posted photos during their shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina, it looks like there are no bangs to be found and Cox can rest assured that her look in the fifth film will easily top in her look in the third.
What are YOUR thoughts on Cox's SCREAM 3 bangs? Are they the scariest part of the film?
