In just one month, on March 10th, Scream 6 – the longest film in the Scream franchise – will be reaching theatres. With the release date drawing near, a new promo image has arrived online, and this one draws inspiration from the classic board game Guess Who?, a two-player game where each player tries to guess the identity of their opponent’s chosen character. (There are more than twenty different characters to choose from.) In this promo image, we’re tasked with guessing the identity of the killer known as Ghostface.
This is a clever approach to Scream movie promo art, and it also reveals the names of the new characters we’ll be meeting in Scream 6. In addition to returning Scream 2022 stars Melissa Barrera (as Samantha Carpenter), Jenna Ortega (as Samantha’s sister Tara Carpenter), Jasmin Savoy Brown (as Mindy Meeks-Martin), and Mason Gooding (as Mindy’s brother Chad Meeks-Martin), returning Scream 4 star Hayden Panettiere (as Kirby Reed), and franchise regular Courteney Cox (as Gale Weathers), we have Jack Champion as Ethan, Liana Liberato as Quinn, Devyn Nekoda as Anika, Josh Segarra as Danny, Samara Weaving as Laura, Tony Revolori as Jason, and Dermot Mulroney as Detective Bailey.
Henry Czerny is in the cast as well, but his character didn’t make it onto the Guess Who?-style promo art. Also missing is franchise heroine Sidney Prescott. That’s because Neve Campbell was asked to reprise the role of Sidney in Scream 6, but passed on it due to a pay dispute.
Directed by Scream 2022’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by Scream 2022 writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, this one will show us what happens when the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. (Those four survivors are the Scream 2022 characters.)
Vanderbilt is producing Scream 6 with Paul Neinstein and William Sherak for Project X Entertainment. Original Scream screenwriter Kevin Willamson serves as executive producer alongside Chad Villella, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena, and Spyglass’s Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre.
