Scream 3 – WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie

It’s time for a new episode of our video series WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie (formerly known as The Horror Movie That Almost Was), and this time we’re taking a look back at Scream 3. Of course, a version of Scream 3 was made (and you can watch it HERE), but the Scream 3 that reached theatres in 2000 did not match up with the story that Scream and Scream 2 writer Kevin Williamson originally had in mind. Too busy to write the third film himself, Williamson turned in a treatment from Scream 3 – and then the film’s new writer, Ehren Kruger, took things in a very different direction. To find out what the unmade version of Scream 3 would have been like, check out the video embedded above!

Directed by Wes Craven, the Scream 3 that was released has the following synopsis:

As bodies begin dropping around the Hollywood set of STAB 3, a movie sequel based on the gruesome Woodsboro killings, Sidney and other survivors are once again drawn into a game of horror movie mayhem.

The film stars Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Patrick Dempsey, Parker Posey, Emily Mortimer, Deon Richmond, Patrick Warburton, Lance Henriksen, Scott Foley, Matt Keeslar, and Jenny McCarthy.

The WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie series focuses on

the various horror projects that could never seem to get things off the ground, be it for budgetary concerns, creative differences, or just an ever evolving Hollywood landscape. We dive into every aspect and see just how close these films had come to cameras rolling.

This episode was Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
