Scout Taylor-Compton glad Halloween 3 never happened

This past Halloween we were finally able to sit down with Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green's direct sequel to John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN. The film ended up being a big hit with critics and at the box-office. And that bodes well for the franchise as it was kinda dead following Rob Zombie's remake and it's underappreciated sequel. But what if we would have seen HALLOWEEN 3 starring Scout Taylor-Compton and Tyler Mane? Would you've been down for that? I would've. But it seems like I'm in the minority as even Zombie's Laurie Strode herself Scout Taylor-Compton is glad the movie never happened. The actress spoke to SyFy Wire about how she felt regarding a Rob Zombie-less HALLOWEEN 3.

Scout Taylor-Compton:

Rob was done after the second one. There was a lot of stuff that was going on, and I mean, I was too young to really understand what was going on. But I do know that we were contacted. Myself and Tyler [Mane, who played Michael Myers] were contacted by Dimension to do a third. They had sent a copy of the script. They didn't have a director, but they had a tentative tape date, and that was it.

She continues:

And Rob wasn't gonna be part of it. And they pretty much cut funds in half. It was the strangest phone call I've ever gotten in my entire life. When I heard that Rob wasn't gonna be a part of it, I called Tyler and I talked to him. And he said that he had gotten the same offer. We were so hesitant on doing it. And we saw the media, all the different directors that they had attached to it and all this stuff. I was indifferent with what I wanted to do; it seemed so unorganized and so up in the air. But then I was like, 'Well if I don't do [the movie], they're gonna get someone else to train what I've worked so hard on.' But I'm kinda glad that it didn't happen, because the way that the offer came in, it was not from loving hands.

Personally, I have always been half and half on Rob Zombie's remake of John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN. I dig the first half but the second part is pretty 'meh.' That said – and I'm well aware I'm one of the few – I love Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN II. I thought it was the movie in which Rob Zombie finally found his footing with the franchise and swung for the f*cking sadistic f*cking white-trash f*cking fences. What did you think? Let us know below!

A year after narrowly escaping death at the hands of Michael Myers (Tyler Mane), Laurie Strode is at the breaking point, pushed to the edge by Dr. Loomis' (Malcolm McDowell) revelation that she's Michael's sister. Little does she know, the unstoppable killer is back in Haddonfield and, driven by visions of their dead mother (Sheri Moon Zombie), he is determined to bring about a bloody family reunion.

Zombie directed HALLOWEEN II from a screenplay he wrote himself based on characters created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. The film starred Malcolm McDowell, Tyler Mane, Sheri Moon Zombie, Brad Dourif, Danielle Harris, and Scout Taylor-Compton. Buy it on Blu-ray RIGHT HERE.
