Star Wars: Scott Derrickson wants R-rated The Thing-style Hoth horror film

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

SINISTER and DOCTOR STRANGE director Scott Derrickson has been in the news quite a bit lately. First, there was the semi-weak news that he had been replaced by Sam Raimi as director on Marvel's first horror movie DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS.

Then there was a fun bit where he said he'd like to make a CONSTANTINE movie. And then just last week we learned he would be taking over (ironically) for Sam Raimi as director of Bermuda Triangle movie BERMUDA.

Whew.

And today the man is in the news once again for talking about his desire to make – get this – an R-rated frozen planet STAR WARS horror film set on HOTH – in the vein of THE THING or Lovecraft's IN THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, with zero connection to any previous characters or storylines.

He tweets:

Just asked what kind of Star Wars movie I would make. I answered that I would make Hoth, an R-rated frozen planet horror film in the vein of The Thing or Lovecraft's In the Mountains of Madness, with zero connection to any previous characters or storylines.
