Scarlett Johansson to jump in director’s chair with SUMMER CROSSING

Scarlett Johansson will be shucking her skin-tight AVENGERS outfit soon to make her directorial debut with SUMMER CROSSING, an adaptation of the Truman Capote novella of the same name. “Summer Crossing” is Capote’s first work and was thought lost for 50 years, till it was eventually recovered and published in 2005.

The official synopsis-

Thought to be lost for over 50 years, here is the first novel by one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.

Set in New York during the summer of 1945, this is the story of a young carefree socialite, Grady, who must make serious decisions about the romance she is dangerously pursuing and the effect it will have on everyone involved.

Barry Spikings (THE DEER HUNTER) is producing the film and Peter D. Graves is executing producing along with the Truman Capote Literary Trust. Screenwriter and playwright Tristine Skyler is working the script.

It’s always interesting to see which actors can make a successful jump to director, and Johansson certainly hasn’t chosen an easy first film to tackle. Always been a fan of her work though so it’ll be great to see what she can do on the other side of the camera.
