"Once you go up, you never come down." Like Bigfoot, I have always said that it's a damn shame that the horror genre doesn't have a flagship film when it comes to the Scarecrow subgenre. Sure we have DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW and, you know, SCARECROWS (1988), but what the classic horror villain needs is a modern masterpiece. And (maybe) today we (might) have such a film.
The movie is, fittingly, called SCARECROWS and today we have the trailer and poster for you to check out. The press release calls the film "an exceedingly frightening stoner-horror throwback in the vein of Jeepers Creepers and Scream," and I'm currently trying really hard NOT to roll my eyes out of my head. I mean I love SCREAM and JEEPERS CREEPERS but come on, I doubt it. Anyhow, overall I'm optimistic about the film and I'm willing to give it a chance when it rises from the cornfield this December via Uncork’d Entertainment.
Directed by Stu Stone and co-written by Stone and Adam Rodness, SCARECROWS begins
While on a hike to find a secret lagoon, a group of friends have no choice but to pass through an ominous cornfield. Unbeknownst to them, the farm owner despises trespassers and has vowed to kill anyone who crosses his land by turning them into living scarecrows, leaving them to rot in his fields. Once one goes up… it never comes down.
SCARECROWS stars Hannah Gordon (HURT), Mike Taylor (PURE) and Umed Amin (A SIMPLE FAVOR). The "exceedingly frightening stoner-horror throwback in the vein of Jeepers Creepers and Scream," premieres on VOD from Uncork’d Entertainment December 11 and DVD February 1.
