As more and more talent seems to be packing up their feature film belongings and heading out to the green pastures of television, so too is the remake of David Cronenberg’s head-exploding classic SCANNERS.
You may remember that SCANNERS was for the longest time held up – like fr too many quality horror properties – by the Weinstein brothers over at Dimension. But word today is that they have lost the rights to Cronenberg’s classic (thank God) and another entity has picked them up.
Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res and Bron Studios snatched up the SCANNERS rights and plan to develop the franchise into a TV series, and are currently searching for “a high-end filmmaker and showrunner before shopping it to premium services.”
