Saw: Legacy to see return of series composer Charlie Clouser

I've always said the most consistent thing about the long-running SAW franchise is the score by Charlie Clouser, especially the track "Hello Zepp," which underscores every big twist. That track is so intense, it could make any scene seem massively important, even if it's just a visit to the grocery store.

Luckily, SAW: LEGACY, the new film in the franchise, feels the same way I do. Clouser has been tapped to return to his composer duties, which he has been performing since the very first film.

Says Clouser:

I’m psyched to be scoring the re-invention of the Saw franchise. I think the Spierig brothers can deliver a fresh take on the material that will establish a new story line and new characters that can carry the saga into the future. After a six-year break from the world of Saw, this will be an opportunity for me to re-imagine how I approach the score, and I’ll be trying a more stark, bold, and stripped-down approach that will be more in line with the strong vision that the Spierig brothers are bringing to the table.

Clouser, previously a member of Nine Inch Nails, has recently scored Wayward Pines and THE NEIGHBOR, from SAW veteran Marcus Dunstan.

Filming is taking place in Toronto. The Spierig Brothers (UNDEAD, DAYBREAKERS, PREDESTINATION) are directing this eighth film in the franchise from a script by PIRANHA 3D / SORORITY ROW's Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger. There are no details on the plot, but there are rumors that the corpse of the legendary Jigsaw killer might have been exhumed for some sinister purpose…

SAW: LEGACY will trap you in theatres on October 27, 2017.
