Texas Chainsaw Massacre is set to hit Netflix tomorrow and the film serves as a direct sequel to the 1974 horror classic. Leatherface is given a slew of new victims that could come up against the wrong end of his chainsaw and leading the bunch is actress Sarah Yarkin.
Sarah Yarkin plays Melody, a San Francisco moneymaker who drags her sister Lila (Elsie Fisher) with her to Texas on a business trip out of fear of leaving her alone in the city. It isn’t long before this business trip turns into a legit bloodbath and Sarah Yarkin’s Melody is put through the paces as she tries to escape Leatherface’s wrath.
I interviewed Sarah Yarkin ahead of the film’s release and she gave me some insight into what it was like shooting the film. Her character goes through a lot during what appeared to be a very messy shoot and she explains all that was involved shooting for hours on end covered in blood and poop (you’ll have to see the movie). Yarkin explains that she’s not a big watcher of horror films but she was drawn to Melody because she was a bit different from other women in horror films because she wasn’t the typical damsel in distress and wasn’t involved in some romantic entanglement. Yarkin also describes what it was like working with Elsie Fisher, coming up against Leatherface, and much more!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre begins streaming on Netflix tomorrow, February 18, 2022!
