Sarah Paulson to direct an episode of American Horror Stories for Hulu

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A few months ago, it was announced that the FX anthology series American Horror Story will be getting a spin-off called American Horror Stories, which will consist of standalone episodes that each tell a contained story, rather than the original show's approach of telling a story of the course of an entire season. Very little is known about what creator Ryan Murphy has planned for the spin-off, but we do know that it's not going to be airing on FX. American Horror Stories will be exclusive to the Hulu streaming service.

One of the most popular stars of American Horror Story, which Murphy now calls "the mothership show", is Sarah Paulson, as she has been in nearly every season. The only one she missed out on the was the "1984" season, and she has earned Emmy nominations for most of the seasons she was in. While doing press for Murphy's upcoming Netflix show Ratched, in which she plays the Nurse Ratched character that Louise Fletcher won an Oscar for playing in the 1975 film ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, Paulson revealed that she will have some involvement with American Horror Stories as well.

When asked about the spin-off, Paulson said,

What can I say? I'll be directing something."

Paulson made her directorial debut with a season 8 episode of American Horror Story back in 2018. It remains to be seen if she'll be appearing on American Horror Stories, but it's interesting to hear that she'll be directing an episode of the series.

We'll keep you updated on American Horror Stories as more information is made available.
