Arnold Schwarzenegger's delivery of the simple line "I'll be back" in THE TERMINATOR instantly became one of the most famous moments in cinema history, so of course every film in the franchise has included that line, or a twist on it. The upcoming sequel TERMINATOR: DARK FATE is no different – and this film's version of "I'll be back" has been revealed in a TV spot.
Schwarzenegger has said the "back" line in most of the films, but Christian Bale stole it in TERMINATOR: SALVATION and in DARK FATE the line has been given to Linda Hamilton, who is reprising the role of Sarah Connor.
Directed by DEADPOOL's Tim Miller from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, Justin Rhodes, and Billy Ray, TERMINATOR: DARK FATE sees James Cameron returning to the franchise as producer. Cameron also developed the film's story with Goyer, Rhodes, Charles Eglee, and Josh Friedman.
Since this is the first TERMINATOR that Cameron has been involved with since TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, this one serves as a direct follow-up to T2, ignoring the sequels Cameron didn't have a hand in.
Hamilton is joined in the cast by Natalia Reyes as heroine Dani, Diego Boneta as Dani's brother, Gabriel Luna as a Terminator, Mackenzie Davis as "soldier-assassin from the future" Grace, and yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger is said to be playing a T-800 again, but this T-800 seems to just be hanging out in a cabin, growing a beard.
Brett Azar and Jude Collie served as CGI stand-ins for a younger Schwarzenegger and Edward Furlong, respectively, for the filming of scenes that take place during the time of T2.
Sarah Connor will be back on the big screen when TERMINATOR: DARK FATE is released on November 1st.
