Well, at least we can take this out of the rumor pile, as actress Saoirse Ronan told Sky News that she has indeed auditioned for a role in J.J. Abrams STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. While speaking to the news outlet, Ronan "confirmed rumours that she’s auditioned for a role – before modestly adding 'so has everyone.'"
The star remained mum on details, however, saying that "bosses" would "chop off her head with a light-sabre" if she said anymore (which is becoming a real possibilty). A lot of names have been tossed about for roles in the upcoming sequel to the massive series, but none have been confirmed as of yet. This is the first time we've had any kind of confirmation outside of the laundry list of rumors.
It's likely that Ronan read for the rumored lead female role, which is said to be the offspring of Han Solo and Princess Leia, but again, there's that pesky word again. All in due time, of course, but with a rabid fanbase built over decades, it's hard for anyone to expect that we'll sit on our hands while waiting on Star Wars casting news. It's Star Wars, man. It goes with the galactic territory.
STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is set to hit theaters sometime in 2015.
