This is the first time I’m hearing about RISE OF THE GUARDIANS. Not to be confused with the Zack Snyder animated owl movie. I’m sure that’s what people will think of when they hear the title. The animated film from Dreamworks is based on “The Guardians of Childhood,” a series of highly anticipated children’s books by William Joyce. Why didn’t they just call it “The Guardians of Childhood”?
In the story, the boogeyman, also known as Pitch (voiced by Jude Law) tries to take away the magic of our favorite holiday representatives. Basically, he wants to tell kids that they are wrong for thinking Santa and all the rest of them are real. Wow. Way to spoil a big part of childhood, boogeyman jerk. The first poster for the film has this teaser of a hardcore santa. Did I mention that these holiday reps are also heroes with special abilities? Yeah, they are.
