Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock became fast friends after filming the upcoming The Lost City so it should come as no surprise that Bullock was asked about joining him in his return to stripping glory in Magic Mike 3, the next installment of the franchise set for release on HBO Max. While Bullock seems flattered by the notion, the actress joked that she’d have to turn it down out of fear of upstaging him.
The actress joked with Entertainment Tonight about Magic Mike 3 and here is what Bullock had to say:
“He’s doing a lot of asking for me to come on board with my skills in the stripping world, which they’re world-renowned. I don’t know if I wanna do it and take the attention away. Channing needs that moment, and if I step on stage, you know what’s gonna happen, it’s like, all eyes are gonna be on this. It’s all gonna be on mama.”
Always the one to display a sense of humor, Bullock quickly added, “Not really, but in my world, that’s what would happen. All eyes would just shift off of Channing and onto me, and they would stay.” Tatum confirmed the third Magic Mike movie by posting a photo of the script on Twitter. Reid Carolin is taking on writing duties while Steven Soderbergh, who helmed the first two films, is returning to direct.
As for The Lost City, the film follows a reclusive romance novelist (Bullock) on a book tour with her cover model (Tatum) that gets swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them both in a cutthroat jungle adventure. The film returns Bullock to her signature romantic comedies which have proven to be her bread and butter over the years. The film hits screens on March 25, 2022.
